Your donations save lives. Having to look into a companion animal’s eyes and know that you cannot afford to pay for their needed medical care is one of the most heartbreaking situations any pet owner can ever face.
Help keep animals out of shelters. To have to surrender a loved and cherished member of the family to a shelter because access to medical care is beyond an individual or family’s means is a situation no pet owner wants to consider. As the cost of veterinary care continues to rise, shelters are overflowing with animals whose owners cannot afford critically needed medical treatment. Most of these animals are euthanized.
We need your help. The Pet Fund works to stop the flow of already owned and adopted animals into shelters due to lack of access to medical care. To see some of the animals whose care was funded by The Pet Fund, please visit the "Special Friends" page of the website by clicking here:

Edy, the Pointer mix in this photo, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, which is an aggressive form of cancer. She had surgery to have a leg amputated, but after the surgery the cancer returned.
Thanks to your donations, Edy is receiving chemotherapy which is enabling her to have many more happy days with her family.
Your gifts keep companion animals together with the people who love and need them.
We need your help to continue to keep beloved pets out of shelters and give them another chance at life.
The Pet Fund has a very small, part-time staff and depends on full-time volunteers, so almost all donations received go directly to fund needed medical care for companion animals. The Pet Fund’s administrative costs are minimal and are funded directly through restricted grants, so with each donation we are able to share with the donor exactly which animal received their gift and which medical procedures were performed. The Pet Fund currently receives over 200 calls daily requesting veterinary care assistance, so our wait list for pet owners needing help is always growing. Your contribution will directly benefit animals in need of medical care, and you may also specify what kind of medical conditions you would prefer to fund.
For example, The Pet Fund provides assistance for:

The Pet Fund Vision For The Future
Endowment funding enables nonprofits to provide consistent levels of services far into the future. Endowment funds are invested and the interest earned provides an ongoing source for funding for the endowed nonprofit. The chart example above depicts a 5% return on investment and the projected fiscal benefit for The Pet Fund.
The Pet Fund helps animals beyond just making grants for medical care or helping to facilitate medical treatment. The biggest impact of the work of The Pet Fund is in helping pet owners to become self-sufficient in being able to keep their animals out of shelters through education about preventative care and financial resources. This education and outreach work benefits the community at large, our companion animals, and pet owners nationwide.
Your gifts will help fund medical care for companion animals and will help thousands of pet owners to achieve sustainability in caring for their pets. The larger our fund grows, the more animals will be spared euthanasia or surrender to shelters.

What is a donor advised fund?
A DAF, or donor-advised fund is a charitable giving vehicle administered by a public charity created to manage charitable donations on behalf of organizations, families, or individuals. It allows donors to make a charitable gift to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program and take an immediate tax deduction.
How does it work?
1. Donors establish a DAF, or Donor Advised Fund by making a tax-deductible donation to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program.
2. Next, advise the investment allocation of the donated assets.
3. Finally, recommend grants to qualified public charities of your choice.
For more information, ask your financial advisor about the advantages of a donor-advised fund. Call 800-952-4438 for planning, guidance and ways to learn more about how a Donor Advised Fund could help with gifting to The Pet Fund.
